Boston is one of the easiest big-city cruise ports in the country. Flynn Cruiseport, run by Massport on Black Falcon Avenue in the Seaport District, is about 10 minutes from Logan Airport, and the Silver Line bus connects the two. Massport lists Norwegian, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess as homeport lines, and more than 20 lines call each year.
The signature trip is Canada and New England: Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and sometimes the St. Lawrence, with Quebec City or Montreal as a turnaround on one-way sailings. Fall foliage season in September and October is the peak. Bermuda sailings and a handful of longer or repositioning voyages round out the schedule.
The season runs April through November, so plan around shoulder-season weather: spring and late fall departures can be cold on deck. Boston itself is a strong pre-cruise city, and the Seaport's hotels and restaurants are close to the terminal.
