Mobile is a small, drive-in cruise port on the Alabama Gulf Coast, popular with travelers from Alabama, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle and the Southeast who would rather not fly. The terminal sits on the riverfront in downtown Mobile, so there is normally only one ship in port and embarkation is quick.
Carnival is the only major line based here. Carnival Spirit sails from Mobile in fall, winter and spring (it spends summers in Alaska), and Carnival has announced that Carnival Valor will be based in Mobile from May 2027. Sailings head to the Western Caribbean, usually calling at ports in Mexico, on trips of roughly four to seven nights.
Downtown Mobile, with its Mardi Gras history and walkable historic streets, makes an easy pre-cruise stop. Like other Gulf ports, Mobile is exposed to hurricane season from June through November, which can reshuffle itineraries.
